FLAMES stand for:

F - friends
L - lovers
A - anger
M - marriage
E - engaged
S - sweethearts

To see if you and your crush/partner are compatible, look for letters you and your crush/partner have in common in your names, cross them out and count the remaining letters. See what letter in FLAMES corresponds with the numbers (i.e. 1-F, 2-L,...6-S, 7-F and so forth).  Add the numbers and do the same thing again.
example:
  jOHn - 2 - John wishes to be lovers
  jAnE - 2 - Jane wishes to be lovers 
          = 4 - John and Jane will be engaged.
